Job Title: B Pressure Welder



Job Description

This role focuses on pressure welding for a dedicated pressure vessel team within a busy fabrication shop. You will weld pressure vessels, spools, and nozzles, perform consistent back welding on the production floor, and support the assembly of exchanger systems using overhead cranes. Work is based on detailed drawings and P&ID layouts, with approximately 70% of your time on vessels and 30% on spooling, depending on project requirements.

Responsibilities
• Perform high-quality pressure welding on vessels, spools, and nozzles in a fabrication shop environment.
• Base all welds on product drawings, blueprints, and P&ID layouts to ensure accuracy and compliance with specifications.
• Carry out back welding consistently on the production floor as required by project and code standards.
• Support the assembly of exchanger systems, using overhead cranes to position and assemble components safely.
• Apply pipe fitting and fitting skills to lay out, fit, and prepare piping and vessel components for welding.
• Work on both vessel fabrication (approximately 70% of the time) and spooling work (approximately 30% of the time), adjusting to changing project priorities.
• Read and interpret product drawings, P&IDs, and layout documents to plan weld sequences and fit-up.
• Assist with hydrotesting activities and other pressure-related testing as required for completed vessels and piping.
• Troubleshoot welding, fit-up, and assembly issues, making adjustments to maintain quality and meet project requirements.
• Operate overhead cranes and related lifting equipment safely to move, position, and assemble materials and finished components.
• Contribute to the installation and fabrication of piping and associated systems as needed.
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures and participate in orientation and training activities.
• Collaborate with teammates and support a well-organized, stable production environment.

Essential Skills
• Valid B Pressure Ticket.
• Journeyman Welder certification.
• Demonstrated experience pressure welding vessels, spools, and nozzles.
• Strong pipe fitting skills in a fabrication environment.
• Proficiency in back welding on pressure components.
• Hands-on experience working with vessels and spooling in a production or fabrication shop.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, product drawings, and P&ID (piping and instrumentation diagrams).
• Experience in a fabrication environment focused on piping, pressure vessels, or process systems.
• Proficiency with welding processes used in pressure applications in line with industry standards.
• Experience operating overhead cranes safely for material handling and assembly.
• Ability to support hydrotesting and pressure testing procedures.
• Troubleshooting skills for welding, fit-up, and assembly issues.
• Ability to perform accurate layout work for piping and vessel components.
• Experience with X-ray tested welds or working to X-ray quality standards.

Work Environment

The role is based in a modern, state-of-the-art fabrication shop in an industrial area, close to major amenities. The facility focuses on compression and process piping work for oil and gas applications and operates with a strong emphasis on organization, safety, and quality. Work is performed on the production floor using welding equipment, overhead cranes, and standard fabrication tools. Shifts follow a four-day workweek (4x10s), with a day shift running from 5:50 a.m. to 4:20 p.m., Monday to Thursday, and an afternoon/night shift running from 4:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., Monday to Thursday, with night shift given priority. New team members receive a structured orientation with health, safety, and environment support and work alongside an experienced buddy during the first few days before transitioning to more independent work on daily P&ID layouts.
