ABOUT SOFTIES

We are a burger pop-up turned brick-and-mortar, established in August 2022. We have always operated with a tightly-knit, scrappy, and genuinely empathetic team, and nothing changes at our first restaurant, which opened in July 2025. Our main priorities are to find a team that is kind, caring for their team/guests, and able to take ownership & accountability. POSITION SUMMARY

The Line Cook at Softies USC Village is responsible for preparing burgers, sandwiches, and sides to order with strict adherence to company and Health Department standards. A person in this role cares deeply about consistency, quality, a sense of urgency, teamwork, and a willingness to learn and be adaptable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

SAFETY:
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures established by the company
• Safely operate equipment, following the training provided by the company
• Comply with food safety regulations, adhering to both company procedures and food handlers guidelines
• Thoroughly clean and sanitize food preparation areas at the beginning and end of each shift, as well as during service
• Exercise caution and adhere to safe practices while working and moving within work spaces
• Demonstrate awareness of food allergy considerations, preventing cross-contamination and other allergy hazards
• Promptly report all incidents, issues, and concerns to management
• Exercise sound judgment in the workplace, seeking guidance from a manager when uncertain about how to handle any situation

OPERATIONS:
• Comply with company policies, procedures, and initiatives
• Complete assigned tasks thoroughly, accurately, and in a timely manner
• Act in accord with Management and for the benefit of the team, refraining from making decisions that result in gaps in service, a lack of cohesiveness, or confusion
• Use established verbal kitchen cues to communicate and interact with co-workers
• Keep workstations immaculately clean throughout shift, continuously restoring the environment to “as-new” condition
• Minimize waste by following company recipes and procedures
• Participate in trainings to maintain a practical understanding of all company offerings
• Fulfill customer orders swiftly and in accord with Softies’ recipes and standards
• Strategize workflow for efficiency while participating as a member of the team
• Maintain speed, safety, product quality, and accuracy during periods of high volume
• Perform opening, mid and closing duties thoroughly and accurately
• Communicate occurrences of low supply emergencies to management
• Arrive in uniform and ready to work at the scheduled start of each shift
• Follow directives from leadership and management
• Maintain flexible availability to meet dynamic scheduling needs

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to:

• Employ close and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus
• Read food order tickets
• Reach, bend, stoop, shake, stir
• Use sharp kitchen utensils and equipment
• Climb and/or balance
• Carry, push, and lift objects up to 50lb
• Employ repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers

ENVIRONMENT:

Primarily operates in a kitchen environment. Involves the use of kitchen utensils, equipment, and exposure to hot surfaces, potentially slippery floors, and cleaning chemicals. Moderate to loud noise levels in the work environment.
