As per the Chief Labour Commissioner notification effective April 2026, the minimum wage for security guards in Zone I is Rs. 1,200 per day, amounting to Rs. 31,200 per month for 26 working days. In Zone IV, it is Rs. 1,080 per day or Rs. 28,080 per month. Overtime beyond 48 hours per week is paid at twice the ordinary rate.
What are the eligibility criteria to become a security guard in India?
Under the PSARA 2005, candidates must be Indian citizens aged 18-60 years, have passed Class 8, and be physically fit as certified by a medical practitioner. They require 100 hours of mandatory training from a licensed private security agency. Ex-servicemen and police retirees are exempt from training requirements.
What documents are required for security guard training under PSARA?
Required documents include Aadhaar card, voter ID or passport for identity, Class 8 certificate, medical fitness certificate from a registered doctor, and police verification certificate.
