Electrical Technician – Gqeberha Factory
Role Overview
The Electrical Technician is responsible for delivering electrical engineering and technical support to ensure optimal machine availability, operational efficiency, and compliance within a manufacturing environment. The role supports production targets through effective maintenance execution, PLC programming, fault diagnosis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Performance Areas
Technical Support and Maintenance
β€’ Execute reactive, planned, and preventative maintenance activities.
β€’ Perform advanced fault finding, diagnostics, and root cause analysis on electrical systems.
β€’ Maintain and improve machine process capability.
β€’ Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC systems and robotic equipment.
β€’ Ensure all maintenance job cards are accurately completed and closed.
β€’ Provide plant-wide technical support as required.

Compliance and Risk Management
β€’ Operate in accordance with company policies, procedures, and engineering standards.
β€’ Identify and escalate operational risks within area of responsibility.
β€’ Ensure compliance with financial controls and regulatory requirements.

Cost and Resource Control
β€’ Promote efficient use of maintenance resources and consumables.
β€’ Control maintenance-related expenditure within budget guidelines.
β€’ Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising production output.

Customer and Stakeholder Support
β€’ Build and maintain strong working relationships with production and cross-functional teams.
β€’ Deliver high-quality technical services aligned to production requirements.
β€’ Demonstrate integrity and accountability in all problem-solving initiatives.

Minimum Requirements
Educational
β€’ National Diploma in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (NQF 6)
β€’ Qualified Artisan with Trade Test certification

Experience
β€’ Up to 3 years’ experience as an Electrical or Electronic Technician in a manufacturing environment
β€’ Proven PLC programming and troubleshooting experience
β€’ Exposure to robotics in an automated production environment

Technical Competencies
β€’ Strong PLC and robotic systems knowledge.
β€’ ERP and MES system exposure.
β€’ MS Office proficiency.
β€’ Root Cause Analysis and continuous improvement methodologies.
