Job Description
An electrical maintenance company in Polokwane, Limpopo is seeking a Qualified Electrician to service commercial client sites. You will conduct routine inspections, issue Certificates of Compliance, perform remedial work, and provide quotations for upgrades. Registration as an electrical contractor with the Department of Labour is required.
Responsibilities
• Issue Certificates of Compliance after completing installations or repairs, verifying work meets regulatory requirements.
• Provide guidance and supervision to apprentices and semi-skilled assistants, ensuring they work safely and competently.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults in industrial machinery, control panels, motor circuits, and building systems using testing equipment.
• Maintain accurate records of all work performed including test results, materials used, and time spent for job costing and compliance.
• Respond promptly to electrical breakdowns and emergencies during and outside normal hours as part of a standby rotation.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals to plan installations and troubleshoot circuit problems.
• Install, connect, and test electrical wiring, conduits, distribution boards, circuit breakers, lighting, and power outlets per SANS 10142.

Requirements
• Thorough knowledge of SANS 10142 wiring code and the Occupational Health and Safety Act as applied to electrical work.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to systematically diagnose faults and identify root causes rather than just symptoms.
• A recognised trade certificate in electrical engineering or national diploma in electrical engineering from a registered institution.
• Proficiency in using electrical testing instruments including multimeters, insulation testers, earth loop impedance testers, and clamp meters.
• A wireman's licence issued by the Department of Employment and Labour and electrical contractor registration where required.
• A valid driver's licence with ability to travel to client sites as required, often carrying tools and equipment.
