Job Description
Introduction

We are a control gear & electronic control card manufacturing company, based in Johannesburg.

We are looking for a qualified Electrician / Technician to lead a team of 8 to 10 workshop staff and attend to breakdowns.

Duties & Responsibilities

Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance to minimize downtime and prevent breakdowns. Oversee the install and wiring of electrical equipment, including motors, control panels, power distribution systems, and lighting. Follow and enforce strict safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, NEC, or SANS 10142 standards) and implement lockout/tagout procedures.

Production: Oversee and plan the manufacturing of electrical panels, PLC panels and motor control centers. Manage the day-to-day running of the workshop & staff. Checking IFC drawings and bills of material.

Testing & Commissioning: Conduct thorough tests on manufactured or repaired systems to ensure safety and quality. Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities, test results, and material usage to report progress to management. PLC troubleshooting, electrical schematics, instrumentation, and wiring. Attend and assist with factory acceptance testing with clients.

Technical Interpretation: Read and interpret electrical diagrams, circuit diagrams, and technical schematics to plan layouts and identify component compatibility.

Callouts : We offer a support service to our clients to assist with fault finding and repair. You may be required to travel to site including foreign travel.

Desired Experience & Qualification

5 Years+ Experience

No criminal record or ITC listings

Own reliable transport with a CODE 08 license

Well spoken & tidy

Fluent in English & Afrikaans (read, speak & write)

Computer literate – Microsoft office, word, excel & outlook

Valid passport.

Problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective communication with engineers and clients.

Must:
• have experience in panel building.
• able to draw on AUTOCAD & E-PLAN will be advantageous
• have strong fault finding skills
• Electronic component experience will be advantageous
• PLC programming will be advantageous’ (Siemens & Delta).
• be willing to work overtime, when required

Package & Remuneration

R30,000 to R40,000 per month, depending on experience
