Job Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
β€’ Ensure that all Hanwha Philly Shipyard safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met
β€’ Knowledge and proficiency of heavy shipyard construction welding in all positions using approved WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) determined by Hanwha Philly Shipyard and classification society
β€’ Welding process includes:
β€’ FCAW – Flux Core Arc Welding
β€’ SMAC – Shielded Metal Arc Welding
β€’ SAW – Submerged Arc Welding
β€’ EGW – Electro Gas Welding
β€’ Automated Welding Processes
β€’ Stainless Steel Fillet Welding
β€’ Padding and preparing weld joints per WPS
β€’ Carbon Arc Gouging
β€’ Note: Not inclusive, shall be determined by vessel specification and classification rules
β€’ Knowledge, understanding and demonstration of interpreting approved WPS set forth at Hanwha Philly Shipyard
β€’ Knowledge and ability on how to use all tools related to welding, including basic trouble shooting and maintaining welding equipment to assure a safe and efficient operation
β€’ Welder must proficiently demonstrate welding ability through performance, and testing as determined by vessel project and classification
β€’ Welder must be able to work in a team environment
β€’ Welder shall perform internal quality checks of own work performance to assure quality standards are achieved daily
β€’ Welder shall maintain their individual NDT rejection set forth by Hanwha Philly Shipyard and classification society
β€’ Perform other related duties as required and assigned

COMPETENCIES
β€’ Work Independently according to valid instructions and Hanwha Philly Shipyard rules and standards
β€’ Flexible cooperation with team members
β€’ Must be able to work in different environments and areas (e.g. indoors, outdoors, in confined spaces, on scissor lifts and aerial lifts, and in inclement weather)
β€’ Ability to orient, train and instruct lesser skilled welders

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILTY

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Environmental exposures are similar to those found in most heavy industrial settings and may include noise, heat, cold, vibration, dust, fumes and smoke. Work may be carried on indoors or outdoors, and may involve exposure to inclement weather conditions.

This is an on-site, full-time, safety sensitive position. Standard days and hours of work vary by department, days and hours determined by department schedules.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
β€’ High School Diploma or GED
β€’ 3+ years’ work experience welding, (flux core and ceramic preferred)
β€’ Welding robotics and programming a plus
