Job Description
Job Summary:

The Welder - Fabricator is responsible for the fabrication and welding of sheet metal, certifying to ASME BPV Code, Section IX: Welding, Brazing, and Fusing Qualifications (On Demand) to manually weld metal thicknesses ranging from 0.020” to 0.300” thickness, in all positions comprised of stainless steel, Inconel, cobalt, and aluminum alloys.

Essential Functions:
• Set-up and layout jobs using blueprints, diagrams and fixtures following welding procedures to TIG weld in all positions including the use of rotary turntables for manual welding.
• Inspects, maintains and logs preventative maintenance on equipment needed for welding and fabricating.
• Sets up machines according to work instructions to trim, size, form, inspect, and GTAW (TIG weld) material to meet fabrication drawing requirements.
• Drawing review and compliance for final dimensions, weld note callouts, base material and filler material selection.
• Solvent cleaning, trimming, sizing and polishing to prepare weld joints for welding
• Tack welding, fabrication of shop aids and fixtures to assist fabrication and welding
• Videoscope inspection for root side weld defects. Visual weld inspection using fillet weld gauges, calipers, micrometers, height gauges and final weld fixtures.
• Weld inspection for weld size, face and root reinforcement, cracks, inclusions and porosity.
• Lean Manufacturing, general housekeeping, work in a teaming environment, 5S.
• Daily compliance to customer drawings and specifications to maintain aerospace Quality Standards.
• Complies with internal quality system and regulatory requirements
• Assists Production Lead & Production Planner with efficient planning & execution of jobs for the Fabrication department
• Maintains qualification for welding certifications.
• Cleans work area, tools, and equipment at end of shift.
• Performs other Fabrication duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:
• Upon hire must be able to complete the following within six months from your date of hire:
• Pass a Visual Inspection, Tensile Test and Guided Bend Test
• Successfully qualify a total of 32 welding coupons, which includes:
• 8 material procedures with 4 varied coupon thicknesses for each procedure
• materials to be qualified include but not limited to, Carbon Steel, 304 & 316 Stainless Steel, Aluminum 3003, Copper, Brass, Nickel 200, Monel 400, Inconel 625, Hastelloy C, Ti Gr 2, Zirconium, and Inconel x750.
• High attention to detail and eye/hand coordination skills.
• Mathematical and reading skills
• Ability to interprets specifications, blueprints, and work instructions.
• Ability to read/write/speak English
• Make decisions based on experience and available data.
• Require minimal supervision to plan and schedule workload according to production schedule to meet manufacturing needs.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods of time.
• Ability to lift material up to 35 pounds as needed.
