Job Description
A leading distributor of pipeline products and services is seeking a skilled Combo Welder to perform high-quality welds on pipeline components and assemblies. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in pipe welding, GTAW, GMAW-S, FCAW, and NDE (X-ray) within a shop environment. This position plays a critical role in maintaining operational efficiency, weld quality, and safety compliance while supporting overall production goals. Candidates with recent multi-process pipe welding experience and full penetration welding expertise are highly preferred.

Position Details
• Location: Houston, TX 77073
• Type: Temp-to-Hire
• Schedule: Monday–Friday
• 12-hour shifts: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Saturdays as needed: 6-hour shifts

Responsibilities
• Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and machine drawings
• Set amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse settings
• Perform welding in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
• Operate GTAW, GMAW-S, FCAW, and related welding equipment
• Examine welds and complete repairs when necessary
• Position, align, and clamp workpieces for welding
• Select appropriate torch tips, filler materials, and fluxes
• Tack assemblies together according to specifications
• Chip, grind, and clean welds to remove slag and spatter
• Degrease and prepare materials prior to welding
• Perform routine maintenance on welding equipment
• Safely move materials and finished products using cranes
• Rig and hoist valves and pipeline components safely

Preferred Qualifications
• Strong pipe welding experience in a shop environment
• Experience with:
• GTAW
• GMAW-S
• FCAW
• SAW (Subarc Welding)
• Experience performing welds subject to NDE/X-ray inspection
• Ability to complete full penetration welds
• AWS and/or CWB certifications preferred
• Recent hands-on multi-process welding experience

Specifically targeting candidates with:
• Strong pipe welding backgrounds
• Recent GTAW and GMAW-S experience
• NDE/X-ray weld inspection experience
• Shop welding experience versus field-only welding
• Full penetration welding experience
• Recent FCAW/SAW experience

Candidates with primarily structural welding backgrounds or limited pipe welding/NDE exposure may not be considered a strong fit for this opportunity.
