As per the Ministry of Labour, the minimum wage for drivers in Thailand is 450 THB per day as of 1 January 2026 across all provinces. Overtime must be paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate after 8 hours, with a mandatory 300 THB night shift premium for hours between 10pm and 6am.

As per the Ministry of Labour, foreign drivers require a work permit costing 3,000 THB for one year or 6,000 THB for two years, issued only after obtaining a Non-Immigrant B visa. Employers must submit the application at the Department of Employment within 7 days of the foreigner starting work.

As per the Ministry of Labour, applicants need at minimum a Grade 6 education certificate plus a valid Thai driving licence category 2 or 3, with at least 2 years documented experience for commercial vehicles over 3,500 kg. A medical certificate issued within 30 days confirming no colour blindness or epilepsy is mandatory.

As per the Ministry of Labour, the required documents are national ID card, house registration, driving licence, medical certificate, and a 1-inch photo; applications must be filed via the DOE e-Recruitment system at doe.go.th with a 50 THB processing fee. Originals plus copies are inspected during the interview stage.
