So you're hunting for welder jobs in the Philippines

Honestly speaking I get why. Plenty of construction going on and factories always need people who can actually weld straight. From what I've seen guys with decent skills don't stay unemployed long here.

Thing is not every site pays the same. Some spots in Manila or Cebu throw in overtime like crazy while provincial projects might feel slower but steadier.

Where the work actually shows up

Shipyards down south keep hiring. Same with big infrastructure builds and even those new malls popping up everywhere. Check online boards but also ask around at local trade schools. Word of mouth still lands solid gigs.

Don't sleep on the provinces either. Sometimes smaller outfits pay less per day but the cost of living drops too so your take home feels bigger.

What kind of pay are we talking

Entry level welders might pull 15k to 20k monthly. Guys with experience and certifications can push past 30k easy especially if they do specialized stuff like TIG or underwater work. Overtime is where it really adds up though.

Big difference once you factor in free meals or lodging on some remote sites. I've known welders who barely spend anything for months while on project.

Do you need papers

Certification helps a ton. NC II from TESDA opens doors faster than nothing. But I've seen skilled guys get in without it if they nail the test weld on the spot.

Still worth getting the cert if you can. Makes you look serious and some companies won't even interview without it now.

  • Stick welding basics first
  • Practice on different metals
  • Learn safety stuff cold

Safety training gets mentioned a lot during interviews. They don't want someone who skips the gear.

Quick tips that actually help

Update your resume with specific projects not just job titles. Photos of your work help too. Show up on time for interviews and bring your own helmet if possible.

Network with other welders online. Facebook groups for trades in the PH move faster than official job posts sometimes.

And yeah keep your tools ready. Nothing worse than getting the call and realizing your gear's in bad shape.
