Job Description
Job Summary:

A Shipyard Welder is responsible for welding and fabricating metal components used in shipbuilding, repair, and maintenance. The role involves working on hulls, decks, pipelines, and structural parts of vessels while ensuring high-quality welds that meet safety and industry standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform various welding processes such as SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and GTAW (TIG Welding).
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
• Weld metal parts for ship structures, including hulls, bulkheads, and frames.
• Repair damaged ship components and perform maintenance welding.
• Prepare materials by cutting, grinding, and cleaning metal surfaces.
• Operate welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
• Inspect welded surfaces for defects and ensure quality standards are met.
• Follow safety procedures and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Work in confined spaces and at heights when required.
• Collaborate with fitters, engineers, and other shipyard workers.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or vocational course in welding or related field.
• Proven experience as a welder, preferably in shipbuilding or heavy industry.
• Certification in welding (e.g., SMAW, FCAW, GTAW) is an advantage.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and welding codes.
• Physically fit and able to work in demanding environments.
• Knowledge of safety standards in shipyards.
