As per the Ministry of Labour, the minimum basic wage for unskilled Omani nationals in roles like cleaning staff is OMR 400 per month as of 2026. Employers must add allowances to reach at least OMR 450 total, with overtime at 125% of hourly rate. This applies to private sector contracts registered with the Wage Protection System.

Foreign cleaning staff contracts approved by the Ministry of Labour range from OMR 300 to OMR 450 per month in 2026, often including accommodation and transport worth OMR 100. Basic salary must be at least OMR 300 for category D unskilled workers. All wages are paid via the Wage Protection System monthly.

Foreigners require an employer-sponsored work residence visa (Type 18) valid for 2 years, renewable twice. The employer first obtains MOL work permit approval (OMR 120 fee for unskilled), then applies at ROP with medical fitness certificate. Visa issuance fee is OMR 20 plus OMR 10.800 per month sponsorship levy.

No minimum education is required for entry-level cleaning staff positions under Oman Labour Law. Applicants aged 21-60 with basic fitness pass medical tests; experience is preferred but not mandatory for 70% of vacancies. Omanisation quota limits foreign hires to 90% in cleaning roles as of 2026.
