As per the Ministry of Labour, the minimum wage for unskilled Omani workers in packing roles is 400 OMR per month effective January 2026. Expatriate packing workers earn a minimum of 350 OMR plus accommodation allowance of 100 OMR. Overtime is paid at 1.25 times the hourly rate beyond 48 hours per week.

Foreigners need a sponsor-issued work permit approved by the Ministry of Labour before applying for a visa at Royal Oman Police. The process requires a labour clearance costing 20 OMR and medical fitness certificate valid for 3 months. Visas are issued for 2 years, renewable upon contract extension.

No formal education or prior experience is required for unskilled packing jobs; candidates must be at least 21 years old and pass a basic medical exam. Omanisation quotas limit expatriate hires to 40% in manufacturing sectors as of 2026. Priority is given to Omanis under category A with wages starting at 400 OMR.

Applicants must submit a passport copy valid for 6 months, attested educational certificates if any, police clearance, and medical report to the employer for MOL submission. The application fee via PAM portal is 10 OMR per candidate. Processing takes 10 working days for approval.
