As per the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, the minimum wage for packing jobs in New Zealand is NZ$24.50 per hour from 1 April 2026 for all workers aged 18 and over, with an overtime rate of 1.5 times after 40 hours per week. No separate rate applies to packing roles in factories or distribution centres.

As per Immigration New Zealand, overseas workers must hold an Accredited Employer Work Visa valid for up to three years or join the Recognised Seasonal Employer scheme for up to seven months between April and October 2026. Applications require a job offer from an accredited employer and payment of NZ$330 application fee.
