As per the Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social, the minimum wage for plumbers in Mexico is 374.89 MXN per day as of January 1 2026 in the Northern Border Free Zone and 248.93 MXN per day in the rest of the country. Overtime must be paid at double the rate for the first nine hours beyond the daily limit. This applies to all formal plumber positions under the Federal Labor Law.

As per the Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social, applicants for plumber jobs must hold at minimum a secundaria certificate plus completion of a 240-hour CONOCER plumbing certification. At least two years of verified work experience through IMSS contribution records is mandatory for formal employment. No university degree is required.

As per the Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social, required documents include a valid CURP, INE voter card, proof of address no older than three months, and the CONOCER plumbing certificate. Applicants must also submit an IMSS-registered work history letter and a medical fitness certificate from an approved clinic dated within 30 days.

As per the Secretaría del Trabajo y Previsión Social, plumbers are limited to eight hours per day and 48 hours per week with mandatory rest on Sundays. After one year of service employees receive 12 paid vacation days plus 25 percent vacation premium and 15 days of aguinaldo bonus paid by December 20 each year.
