As per the UK Government, the National Living Wage for packing jobs in United Kingdom is £12.50 per hour for workers aged 21 and over as of 1 April 2026. Workers aged 18 to 20 receive £9.50 per hour and those under 18 receive £7.00 per hour with no exceptions for packing roles. Overtime must be paid at the same rate after 48 hours average weekly under Working Time Regulations.

Seasonal Worker visas allow up to 6 months for horticulture packing with a licensed sponsor and no salary threshold. EU citizens with settled status face no additional permit requirements.

As per the UK Government, packing jobs have no formal education or qualification requirements and accept applicants with basic literacy and numeracy from age 16. Employers may request 3-6 months warehouse experience but cannot mandate it under equality law. Manual handling training must be provided within the first week of employment.
