Envision Employment Solutions is currently looking for a Cleaning Operator for one of our partners, a global leader in Information Technology Services & Consulting Job Summary: The Cleaning Operator is responsible for the physical cleaning and preparation of audiovisual carriers (e.g., tapes, film reels, cassettes) prior to digitization. This role ensures that carriers are handled with care, cleaned to the highest standards, and inspected for any signs of damage or degradation. The Cleaning Operator plays a key role in safeguarding audiovisual heritage by supporting the technical chain of digitization, ensuring the cleanliness, integrity, and readiness of materials while contributing to quality control and preservation standards. Responsibilities: Carrier Preparation & Cleaning: Receive, handle, and inspect audiovisual carriers according to internal protocols and client specifications. Clean carriers (tapes, films, cassettes, etc.) using manual and mechanical cleaning tools in a safe and contamination-free environment. Follow specific cleaning protocols for different formats and materials. Identify and report any damage or irregularities (e.g., mold, warping, magnetic layer issues) to supervisors or relevant departments. Ensure that carriers are properly labelled, tracked, and stored before and after cleaning. Workflow Support & Quality Control: Monitor cleaning stations and equipment to ensure proper operation and cleanliness Conduct routine checks and visual inspections during cleaning Record cleaning actions, anomalies and escalate them to the Supervisor Collaborate with imaging, ingest, and restoration teams to ensure efficient handoff of cleaned materials Contribute to continuous improvement by flagging process inefficiencies and suggesting improvements. Secondary education (technical/vocational diploma preferred). Experience in physical handling of fragile or historical materials is a plus. Interest in preservation, archiving, or audiovisual heritage is considered an advantage. Competencies: Technical & Professional Skills: Basic understanding of audiovisual carrier types (e.g., U-Matic, VHS, Betacam, audiotapes). Manual dexterity and ability to handle delicate materials with care. Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) precisely. Good record-keeping and attention to detail. Comfortable using basic data entry tools (Excel or equivalent). Social & Interpersonal: Reliable, methodical, and safety conscious. Able to work independently and as part of a team Willingness to communicate issues clearly and proactively Open to learning and adapting to new equipment or procedures.
