As per the Ministry of Manpower, the minimum wage for cleaning staff in Egypt is 7,500 EGP per month as of January 2026. Overtime must be paid at 1.5 times the hourly rate for hours exceeding 8 per day. This applies to all private sector cleaning roles under the national wage decree effective from 1 January 2026.

As per the Ministry of Manpower, cleaning staff applicants need only a basic literacy certificate and no formal education beyond primary school. At least 6 months of prior cleaning experience must be documented via previous employer letters. Applicants under 18 are ineligible without special permits.

As per the Ministry of Manpower, applicants must submit a national ID copy, recent medical fitness certificate from a government hospital, and a criminal record extract dated within 30 days. A completed application form from the local manpower office is also required before any employer contract signing.

As per the Ministry of Manpower, cleaning staff work a maximum of 8 hours per day and 48 hours per week with at least one rest day. Annual paid leave is 21 days after the first year of service, increasing to 30 days after 10 years. Sick leave is capped at 180 days per year at 75% pay.
