Job Description
Think You Can Handle the Real Deal?

If you’re looking for a quiet, predictable security job, keep scrolling. But if you thrive on variety, want to sharpen your skills in a high-energy environment, and can take bold action when situations demand it, then we want to talk.

Cowboys Casino is looking for a Security Guard to work the night shift (including weekend nights).

Located in the heart of Calgary, steps away from the Scotiabank Saddledome, Cowboy’s Casino is your year-round entertainment destination. With 32 Gaming Tables, 10 Poker Tables, over 370 slot machines, Calgary’s Premier Sports Lounge, and four dining venues, Cowboy’s Casino is your home for entertainment all year long. Come for the Games, Stay for the After Party!

At Cowboys Casino, our Security Guards deal with everything from intoxicated guests and heated disputes to medical emergencies and high-value cash transfers.

What Your Shift Really Looks Like
• You work as part of a security team when you’re with us, you’re never on your own
• Monitor the casino floor with sharp eyes for anything that doesn’t look right— from suspicious behaviour to potential threats
• Document and report incidents and activities clearly and concisely
• Respond and de-escalate like a guest whisperer. Use effective techniques to resolve conflict before they start
• Protect money and chip transfers in compliance with casino and AGLC regulations
• Respond to medical emergencies with composure and professionalism
• Maintain a physical readiness over long hours and in high-tension scenarios, using skills such as Pressure Point Control Tactics

The Reality Check

This job is demanding. You’ll be on your feet for hours, deal with people at their worst moments, and handle situations that can go from zero to intense in seconds. Some shifts are steady; others are absolute chaos. Flames games, concerts, and the Calgary Stampede can make your head spin.

Our veteran guards love the challenge, the variety, and the fact that no two shifts are ever the same. If you want to build real security skills in a dynamic environment, this is where you’ll get them.

Here’s What we want to see from You
• You have strong observational skills and the ability to stay alert during long shifts
• And proven skills in conflict resolution— you’ll de-escalate more situations than you’ll physically handle
• You show a physical readiness for standing, walking, and responding to incidents for extended periods
• You remain calm under pressure – when things go sideways, you keep your head
• You have a team-first mentality – you ride for the brand and support your fellow guards
• Integrity – you’ll handle sensitive information and valuable assets
• But with all that you deal with, you still want to make our guests’ nights

Experience & Qualifications
• Security, law enforcement, or related experience preferred (but we’ll train the right person)
• Must complete AGLC Smart Training certifications before starting
• Strong written communication for incident reports and documentation
• Physical capability for the demands of the role
• First Aid/CPR certification is an asset (we provide training throughout the year)
• PPCT or use-of-force training experience is a bonus

What You’ll get out of the job
• Comprehensive training to build real security skills
• Team environment – you’ll work with experienced guards and supervisors
• Variety every shift – no boring, repetitive security work here
• Growth opportunities within our security department
• Benefits package for full-time employees
• The satisfaction of mastering a challenging role in a fast-paced environment

Not Right for You if…
• You want a quiet, low-stress security position
• You prefer working alone
• You’re not comfortable dealing with intoxicated or upset people

Perfect for You if…
• You want to develop real security skills in a challenging environment
• You thrive on variety and unpredictability
• You can stay calm when others are losing their cool
• You want to be part of a team that has each other’s backs

Ready to prove you can handle what Cowboys Casino throws at you? We’re looking for guards who can create extraordinary escapes for our guests while keeping everyone safe and secure. If you’ve got the backbone for this challenge, we want to hear from you.
