As per the Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego, the national minimum wage applicable to driver positions in Brazil is R$1,720 per month from 1 January 2026, with night shift premium of 20% and overtime paid at 50% above the hourly rate after 8 daily hours or 44 weekly hours. Professional drivers under Lei 13.103 must also receive a minimum additional R$180 monthly for food allowance when away from base.

As per the Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego, applicants for truck driver roles must hold CNH category C or higher valid for at least 2 years and pass the annual medical and psychological exam under Resolução 425/2012. The exam must be renewed every 12 months for drivers over 65 or every 24 months otherwise, with results registered in the DETRAN system.

As per the Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego, professional drivers may work a maximum of 44 hours per week plus up to 2 extra hours daily, with mandatory 11 consecutive hours of rest between journeys and at least 30 minutes rest after 4 hours of continuous driving. Weekly rest must be 35 consecutive hours including Sunday.

As per the Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego, employers must register the contract in the Carteira de Trabalho Digital within 48 hours using the worker's CPF, photo, proof of address, CNH and medical certificate. The worker receives digital confirmation via the app within 30 days and must sign the digital term.
