The Ministry of Labour requires plumbers to hold a vocational diploma in plumbing or equivalent, plus at least 3 years of documented experience as of 2026. Candidates must pass a skills test administered by Tamkeen for approval. No university degree is needed for standard roles.

Applicants must submit a valid passport, attested experience certificate, medical fitness report, and sponsor employment contract to LMRA as of 2026. Processing takes 5-10 working days and costs BHD 240 for a 2-year permit. Police clearance from home country is mandatory.

Under Bahrain Labour Law, plumbers work 8 hours per day or 48 hours per week maximum, with overtime compensated at BHD 4.17 per hour in 2026. Employees receive 30 calendar days annual leave after one year and 14 days sick leave per year. End-of-service gratuity is 15 days' pay per year for first 3 years, then 1 month thereafter.
