Helper & Cleaner

As per the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), the minimum salary for issuing work permits to cleaning staff (NOC 9132) is BHD 200 per month as of January 2026. This applies to all private sector employers under the Wage Protection System. Overtime must be paid at 1.25 times the regular hourly rate, calculated as BHD 200 divided by 208 hours monthly.

Foreigners require a sponsor employer to apply for a work visa via LMRA's Expat Management System, including a contract with minimum BHD 200 salary, valid passport, and medical fitness certificate. The visa is issued for 2 years and renewable twice. Processing takes 5-7 working days upon complete submission.

No formal education or prior experience is required for cleaning staff roles as per Ministry of Labour and Social Development (MLSD) guidelines updated in 2025. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and pass a medical fitness test. Physical fitness is assessed during the mandatory health screening.

Required documents include passport valid for 6+ months, 4 recent photos, signed employment contract specifying BHD 200+ salary, medical fitness report from GAMCA-approved clinic costing BHD 25, and home country police clearance. Employer submits via LMRA portal at no cost to worker. Originals must be presented within 90 days of approval.
