Security Officers work to ensure that students, staff, and other stakeholders have a safe and enjoyable time on campus by delivering excellent customer service. ECU’s Security Officers need to understand and respond to the needs of stakeholders with well-being a top priority.This position offers a dynamic campus security environment, with responsibilities that include:An 8 week rotating roster (subject to change)Rotations across Joondalup Campus and City Campus (subject to operational requirements)Day, afternoon, and night shiftsA physically active role, averaging approximately 15,000 steps per shiftA strong customer service focus, with frequent interaction with staff, students, and visitorsCareer development opportunities, including control room training and the expectation to backfill control room duties when requiredAbout YouThis position requires applicants to be able to work across both the Joondalup and Mount Lawley Campus. From December 2025 this will also include the City Campus. The applicant will work a variety of day, afternoon and night shifts including weekends and public holidays. Security Officers are structured on an eight-week rotation, including nights, weekends and afternoon shifts.Whilst no two days are the same in a Security Officer role at ECU, a typical day may involve:Responding to all security and safety incidents in a timely and professional manner.Act as Emergency Response Officer during normal business hours, and as Chief Fire Warden after hours.First Responder and providing First Aid assistance as requested.Patrols of buildings, car parks and other University grounds, this will typically require up to 15-20k steps per shift.Actively monitoring and responding to the operation of the security communications system, access control system and intruder alarms.Control room monitoringThe Successful Candidate Of This RoleAs a minimum, hold a current WA Security Officer licence, (Additional Control room Operator licence an advantage) , and WA Motor Driving Licence.The ability to undertake tasks which require extensive physical movement.The ability to complete accurate security incident reports.The ability to act/relieve in other roles within the unit.Undertake specific security training as required.Preferred applicants will be required to undertake a pre-employment health assessment.You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Courage, Respect, Rational Inquiry and Personal Excellence.Benefits Of Working At ECUAt ECU we’re committed to fostering a positive employment experience and believe this is fundamental to the success and satisfaction of our employees.
